Background Story
Hi! It's Heather.
Thanks for stopping by to learn more about Avail Business Advisors LLC.
After 20 years, I stepped out of corporate America and started Avail Business Advisors to work more directly with small business owners. I decided the best way to understand a business owner is to become one.
I cut my teeth auditing public companies at a Big 4 accounting firm for 9 years before joining a long-term, buy and hold strategic acquirer for the next 11. There, I led internal financial reporting and the buy-side mergers & acquisitions process, which opened my eyes and heart to a greater need.
Avail was born from a deep compassion to help business owners be better prepared for whatever comes their way. After meeting with dozens and dozens of business owners and management teams over the years, I began to notice a consistent gap between business owner readiness and third-party expectations, with accounting and financial shortcomings almost always at the core.
I decided it was time to put my long-held basic accounting skills to work to meet small business owners where they are but empower them to go anywhere and meet with anyone at any time. I believe that by elevating standard accounting and advisory services and offering a deep understanding of how third-parties view the business, everyone wins. Traditional bookkeeping is very much about accounting for the day-to-day. Instead, with a broader perspective, we are accounting for the future, too.
I live in Ham Lake, MN with my husband and son, and because I am outnumbered by outdoorsy hungry boys, we spend a lot of time fishing and cooking! I love volunteering at my son's school and in our church community, and I can't ever get enough quality time with friends.
It's a dream to be able to support small businesses and avail much together!
